Essay Sample Exams - What Are the Differences Between the Bechdel and the Cefre?

Essay Sample Exams - What Are the Differences Between the Bechdel and the Cefre? The two most widely used essay samples and their standards for application differ greatly. What are the differences? One major difference is in the topics covered by the two essay samples. The Cefre test, in particular, focuses on writing style and uses many similar questions to those found in the actual AP English exam. On the other hand, the Bechdel test is designed to gauge a student's abilities with 'character' and thus, highlights several examples of sexism and sexual stereotypes throughout the essay. In the past, there were several tests that were devised specifically to allow students to compare the We're with the Bechdel exam. Today, though, there are only two such tests: the Bechdel and the Cefre. The difference is clearly defined by the exam's focus on quality versus quantity.A second difference is that the Cefre focuses on the 'essence' of an essay, while the Bechdel focuses on the 'meaning' of t he essay. An essay will have a 'meaning' and 'essence' - each will be different but both will be equally important in judging the student's ability to write. Thus, the two types of tests are highly compatible with one another.Yet another major difference between the two essay samples is that the Cefre is relatively 'hands-on,' requiring students to take control of their work by giving them specific writing tasks to complete. The Bechdel, on the other hand, does not require students to perform any specific writing tasks but instead relies solely on the audience to determine the author's intent.Because of this, it is crucial for students to be familiar with the Bechdel before taking the Cefre because this helps them to understand the spirit and nature of the exam. That said, both essays will require that students familiarize themselves with writing techniques so that they may not waste their efforts on essay samples that will be thrown at them.In addition, the B2 Cefre makes use of a multiple-choice format rather than a true essay. Because of this, students will likely receive an easier time in answering the multiple-choice questions as opposed to the essay questions. Yet, the B2 We're still making use of the strongest writing technique - the character. At the end of the day, the two essay samples - the Cefre and the B2 Cefre - are designed to test various writing skills, but each will require the student to answer questions about those skills. Therefore, the Bechdel essay sample is slightly easier to understand as a whole, while the We're exhibiting its strongest qualities.
